Center for Advanced Public Awareness

CAPA's goal is to enable all consumers to have access to the most comprehensive information about the chemicals in the products they buy.  We also want suppliers to be accountable for the dangerous and toxic chemicals that are often used in manufacturing processes.   In the public interest, we actively pursue enforcement of state and federal environmental laws.  We aim to create a cleaner, safer, and more informed society.

CAPA is primarily concerned with violations of the Clean Water Act, which threaten our oceans and waterways, thereby threatening the health and safety of both human and animal populations. Our secondary focus is on Proposition 65 violations, where consumers face significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
